How to get More Google Plus One Clicks While You Boost Your Business

Get More Google Plus One Button ClicksExactly How to get more Clicks on your Google Plus One Button continues to be the big ‘+1 question’ since its launch earlier this year.

(If you don’t know what it is, read my post about the Google Plus One Button)

More Google Plus 1 Button ClicksThe recent roll out of Google Plus has breathed a new wave of possibilities into the Plus One Button. In the context of Google+, its value and meaning as a tool for recommending content online have increased (and will continue to do so…)

So far, we know that 1′s will influence Google Search Results in two major ways.

Firstly, If you make a search whilst signed in to a Google Account, any 1′s from your connection will be shown “Jym Tarrant +1′d this” etc. Social Proof.

Secondly, Google has clearly indicated that it will use the +1 button data as a ranking signal, which means that more 1′s is going to help your rankings.

But for those who want to benefit by garnering social proof and potential search ranking benefits from it (that’s every online marketer and business blogger in the world), the question still remains:

How Do You Get More Google Plus One Button Clicks?

Well, the first and most obvious answer is to ask. Put in a call to action, email your list… Secondly, install the button in prominent places on your blog or website so it’s easy for your readers to find and click. You could even write a post about it letting them know how great it is (I did).

But there’s another (better) answer.

Give your visitors an incentive to click the +1 button.

How?

With a cool little inexpensive premium WP plugin called ‘Plus One Profits’

Get More Google Plus One Clicks: ‘Plus One Profits’

Here’s how it works:

Install the plugin, then click on the +1 in your post editor and add it within your post. It’s literally a click of a button:

Plus One ButtonBut we could already insert the button code!

True. But that’s not all.

When you insert the plus one button, a simple menu pops up, adding a few super cool tweaks into the mix

Firstly there’s a selection of button sizes, and the option to turn the click counter on or off. Basic stuff.

Next up, you can set the +1 to be added to any URL you like. Personally I prefer leaving it where it is, but think about it – direct plus one clicks to your sales page, money page, subscription page, home page – whichever page you most need to get ranked to impact your business.

Finally (and this is the function I really like about Plus One Profits) you can redirect anyone who clicks your +1 to another page or post. Why would you do that? Hmmm…. Let’s see now…

Let your readers know there’s an offer/freebie/exclusive post available to them, and the only way to get to it is by hitting that plus one.

Want to take it a step further? Make that a squeeze page as well. Along with the promised value, you can include an opportunity to sign up for something, make it a sales letter, preview, whatever you like.

This little bad boy will:

- Get more Plus One clicks by offering something in exchange.

- Help you direct traffic to ‘money pages’, either on or off your blog.

Increase Plus One Clicks, Conversions and Profits

We all know that when there’s something with perceived value being offered for free, people will make the effort to click through to it.

The Plus One Profits plugin sidesteps the problem of people not being bothered to sign in to their account, preferring to ‘Like’ your post out of habit etc.

And to top it all off, it enables you to bring traffic to the pages that matter.

Very insightful article. What really works for me is a site called GetPlusOnesEasy.com, which helped me get free Plus Ones for my site. It’s a Plus One Exchange system and it works really well. http://GetPlusOnesEasy.com

I’ve just set up a free Plus One exchange site at http://exchangeones.com. Feedback welcome.

    • Barbra says:

Yes, I think google plus is future in Google SERP or SEO, cause if the people click on that G+1 button google collects info about those +1s and in some kind of algoritam way it put better ranked page in top.

I work for several Websites as an WebDesigner and IT logic and nowadays the quickliest way to boost it (besides content and keywords) could be buying natural drip of +1′s. In my reserach i find several sites that can help.

I tried them on my PR10 and PR6 websites and did they the trick …

      1. IncreasePlus.com – they have daily and bulk drips – good and fast service – I used on my PR1 – PR7 websites and several professional websites

      2. plussem.com/ – i used them for BULK on my PR10 – PR 15 websites to boost it immediatelly – but the daily ones are better.

Google plus will show in approx 6 months the real thing of its power, like facebook statuses are now all over the place.

      Interesting idea Sarah.

I’m not into the ‘buying plus ones’ story, but this could work.

    Hi Jym,

Hmm, that’s interesting! I didn’t know about this plugin. Gotta go check it out.

Yes, giving people an incentive to do something, (in this case click the +1 button) works like a charm. People love to get value, especially for free.

Thanks for the SEO cheat sheet and a great post!

Incentives to action are very helpful, and the ability to use this to boost SEO is powerful indeed.

You’re welcome on both counts – thanks very much for dropping by

  8. Ashley says:

    Hi Jym,
thanks for sharing this great little technique. I have received an invite for Google plus but I haven’t started yet.
Basically, I am always trying to focus on creating helpful and useful content. This is really the core of my approach. Giving people an incentive to press the plus button is a very smart idea but it should only be used to promote high quality content.
At the end of the day, however, this is just another example of how Google is controlling our behavior: First, we all go crazy about backlinking because Google decides that backlinks are what is important. Now, we all start to go crazy about the plus button because Google thinks this kind of social proof is so important.
I wonder, what they come up with next.

    • Jym says:

I’m right with you on this Ashley.

High quality content is the foundation of all success, and should underpin your entire strategy. Quality content will get the votes, shares and 1′s, assuming you are able to drive traffic to it that is.

That said, tools like this one can undoubtedly help to boost your results!

Your deeper point about Google’s ‘masterplan’ is a huge topic and certainly one to be considered. Generally I tend to agree with the trends Google seems to be advocating through developments such as those you mentioned. The danger is that the web becomes even more ‘Google-centric’ than it already is, benefitting those Google ‘likes’ and crippling those it doesn’t.

Thanks for adding these thoughts to the discussion mate

    • Jym says:

I had the same problem Bent.

Firstly I didn’t realize you have to input your registration key to activate it. Then, it turned out that one of my other plugins was blocking the script for this one.

Since I didn’t really need that one, I deleted it.

I’ve had a few interactions with the support staff for this button, and they’ve been very helpful every time, and fairly quick to answer (not at weekends though!).

Since I published this post, Google have changed the way the button works, and clicks using the redirect buttons are not being registered on the counter (that’s why there’s only 15 logged on the +1 button for this post!). The producers of Plus One Profits are redesigning the button to accommodate this change as we speak.

      Good luck with it mate

  12. Marcus Baker says:

    Hi Jym,

Well I just had to come over here and read all about this plugin Jym as I knew nothing about it.

Now you see this is the kind of value that makes a blog post stand out, when I am offered something different on a familiar topic, in this case G+.

Just like the similar Tweet trade off facility which I have seen but never used, I do think this is an excellent idea when you don’t necessarily want to get people to opt in to your list but at the same time want to create some kind of trade off for value received.

Also people don’t mind parting with a share when they know they are getting value. There will always be the the freebie groupies who will do anything to get something for nothing but they are also most probably the ones that won’t last the distance anyway so why worry about them?

Thanks Jym for this valuable information!

    • Jym says:

There’s a lot of G+ info being thrown around at the moment, isn’t there Marcus!

I’ve noticed the Tweet trade off before to, and I actually quite like the idea. Apart form anything, if you’re giving a lot of free content consistently, it establishes an direct exchange relationship where there may not have been one before. An entry into your funnel, if you like.

Following on from other commenters below, I only vote, share or 1 content that I find valuable, and I expect the same of my readers here, so I wouldn’t use this plugin (or it’s Twitter counterpart) to replace that value, more as an additional incentive to click and share.

As you say there are always freebooters hanging around and to be honest I don’t mind – those who are meant to stay and who connect with you longer term, will.

You’re welcome and thanks for adding so much with your comment Marcus, always good to have you here.

  13. Echoing Leanne’s thoughts above, I click the big G when I’ve encountered something worth sharing. I already look for the button as I’m aware it has boost potential for excellent content.

I’m not really inclined to click to get something in return. But I do see how linking it to a nice little reward could bring a few more clicks. Of course, if the only reason someone G+ your articles and posts is to get a reward, they might not really be the audience you’re after.

Thanks for sharing this Jym. As per usual, you’re on top of the tools that add a little something extra. :)

      You’re welcome Vernessa.

I agree with your point – and it’s a very important point from a marketing perspective too.

I still think it’s good to have the ‘social proof’ from more 1′s, in much the same way as it is with comments, Tweets and votes on other forums and networks, so I am happy to welcome all clickers ;)

I’m also in agreement with both you and Leanne. My underlying motivation or voting with my 1′s and so on is always based on appreciating value too.

  14. Thanks for the cheat sheet! This plugin looks awesome! I do think it’s a good idea to offer something of value in exchange for a click – - it would definitely increase the clicks. Currently, I only click the +1 button for pages I’m proud to recommend . . . pages that offer great value. So, regardless of whether or not they offer something free, I would only click it if it met my criteria.

      You’re very welcome Leanne.

I agree with you – I click plus one only for pages I consider valuable and I expect others to do the same. However an extra incentive to ‘make the effort to click’ is certainly an appealing idea!

I guess the main target group that this could potentially impact is those who are maybe not already in the habit of ’1′ing posts, or people who are not big users of Google Plus but would like the free bonus.

Thanks for your 1 and your comment Leanne, I appreciate it. Hope you find the cheat sheet useful!

  15. Hey Jym,
