11 Popular Places to Promote Your Blog Posts

Promote Blog PostsWhere Do You Promote Your Blog?

Content may well be King – but – Promotion must therefore be Queen, and unless you have a loyal legion of evangelists hanging out for the next update to your RSS feed, you’ll need to know how to promote your blog.

One of the best and quickest ways to build links, and generate traffic for your posts is to submit or add your post to sharing sites or groups.

These resources are all great places to submit or share your posts – some oriented towards certain niches, others open to any topic.

Check them out, and see which ones work for you.

Bear in mind your target market if you’re looking for places which may generate traffic to your blog. If you’re only link building, it’s less important – but better to find places where you can do both at the same time, no?

Work out where your ‘perfect reader‘ is hanging out online – which forum, tribe, social media platform… Add those places to the list below.

11 Popular Places to Promote Your Blog Posts

  1. Facebook Groups – One of my favorite is the Blogging Mastermind Commenting Tribe
  2. Blog Engage (the only one in this list that has a (one time) sign up fee – but well worth it)
  3. Blog Interact (like Blog Engage, Blog Interact is open to any niche)
  4. Blokube (My Blokube Review needs updating but gives you some insight into this fantastic community)
  5. Better Networker (home business oriented)
  6. BizSugar (Business)
  7. SERPd (All about the search…)
  8. Seeded Buzz
  9. D-Zone (web development and technology)
  10. The Web Blend (design oriented)
  11. BloggersBase

Making the Most of Submission Sites

All these sites have different characteristics and advantages to them, but heeding some general principles across the board will boost the benefits you receive from them all.

  • Fill in profiles fully, making sure to include some mention of ‘your story’ and linking back to your blog
  • Have a look around and see what functions the site has (if any) for sharing, linking, voting and connecting with other users
  • Give some regular time to checking out what content is ‘hot’ and try to understand why  it’s getting the response it i
  • Vote, share and comment on other users submissions and posts. All too often, you’ll find the votes and comments coming back…
  • Engage, connect, interact and network with other users. There’s no substitute for building networks. Don’t be afraid to ‘Dig your well before you’re thirsty!’

Better Networker is an excellent resource Holly, both in terms of content and connecting with other users.

It’s free to join, though there is a premium level as well, with access to training vaults and some exclusive stuff. However the basic forums are open to everyone.

Don’t forget to add an anchor text link pointing back to your blog!

      Thanks for dropping in.

It took a while for me to get the benefit form Blokube Sai.

Two things are critical – firstly networking, voting on other people’s posts, making friends and networking, leaving some comments.

Secondly, learning to write headlines and content which people will really want to vote on and read. Check out some of my posts on headline writing, I’ve linked to one below.

Thanks for your comment, I hope that helps answer you question – I’ll be writing more about increasing blog traffic soon.

It’s worth trying different ones out, seeing what works for you.

Each one has advantages and disadvantages, and different potential. Some I’ve used have taken a while to see any results from – there’s often a degree of networking and contributing involved before much traffic comes back from them…

I have to get up to speed with promoting my blog posts. So far I am only utilizing Blog Engage. I’ll have to look at the others to see what else I can join. Blog Engage is a good one, and I’m sure will probably be saying the same about some of the others.

    • Jym says:

Blog Engage is a great place to start Paul, I love the community there… It’s not a huge leap to add in Blokube and Blog Interact – submission is similar.

SERPd would also suit your niche and just like the others is a great place to network.

No promotion = no visitors, definitely worth getting up to speed!

  13. Dan says:

This is a great list, I’m going to check out a few of these places. I think finding the time to be active in all of these networks is the real challenge. I submit my posts to biz sugar but I can’t find the time to get active in there and I assume that’s why I don’t get much traffic from the site.

    • Jym says:

That’s a fair point Dan and I have to confess that I’m not constantly active in all those in the list.

They’re on the list because they all have some significant value, although not necessarily to all bloggers at all times.

I also haven’t gone far with BizSugar, I submit only certain kinds of posts there.

It’s a question of working out which places will give you a good return on time invested. Wherever your target readership are hanging out is obviously worth putting effort into.

Also worth noting is that some of these sites (like BlogInteract and BlogEngage) automatically give dofollow links, so from a link building perspective they have some value as well – even if you decide not to spend much time networking there right now it’s still worth submitting.

    Hey Jym,

A quick question if you don’t mind – are the people using these communities primarily blogging about blogging/marketing? Would they be suitable for product review type blogs in your opinion?

    • Jym says:

      You’re welcome Hamish…

Some are open to any niche. The Facebook Group just requires that you comment on two other posts for every one you share, but has all sorts of bloggers as members.

Blog Interact and Blog Engage are both open to all kinds of niches.

Seeded Buzz and BloggersBase are also open to a wide variety but I’m newer to both of those so it would be worth checking for yourself.

The others may be relevant – if the products you review pertain to the topics they cover (have a quick look at each to get a better idea if you’re not sure from the brief descriptions above)

      Hope that helps mate

Hi Jym, Thanks so much for adding Blog Engage to the list. I’m a very strong believer that it’s the members that make a community and this is one of the reasons Blog Engage has grown to be so strong and successful. If you take a look at our users they are engaging, commenting, tweeting and fully interacting with one another.

I just love interacting with our members and I’ve even taken it to the next level and started using hash tags to track our member’s articles. If you see me tweet #engaged @blogengage it means I’ve took the time to stop and comment on that bloggers article.

I’ve decided over the next few months my largest goal is to take the time to get to know my members better and that included taking the time to hang out on their blogs more. As you know I’ve been commenting here a lot more than normal and that’s because I want to get to know you better and help you with your online marketing. I mean at the end of the day isn’t that the point of all these sites? To market, promote and meet new bloggers? I must say your list is spot on and includes the best of the best for online social communities.

    • Jym says:

Thanks for coming over and connecting Brian, I had noticed bow much you personally engage with the users at BE and it certainly says a lot about your commitment to the community.

I love the bloggers I’ve met through Blog Engage, and there’s a constant flow of excellent content. Having put in some time to support and meet others, it’s been great to have my own content received and appreciated there too.

Blog Engage is a great example of the win-win of networking together and supporting each other as bloggers in the wider community online, and I’m happy to voice my support.

Keep up the great work Brian, and thanks again mate.
